What's behind the crisis of priestly vocations?

Che ci sia una crisi delle vocazioni è sotto gli occhi di tutti. Che poi si dica che non sia crisi di vocazioni (ed è vero) ma di risposte alla vocazione, non è che cambi molto le cose. Sant’Ignazio di Loyola, che di vocazioni se ne intendeva, tanto che nei suoi Esercizi spiritu ali ha inserito ben diciassette punti per riflettere seriamente sulla scelta del proprio stato, affermava addirittura che un maschio su tre fosse chiamato al sacerdozio. Certo, non sappiamo se le cose stiano effettivamente così; resta il fatto che siamo su cifre molto, ma molto lontane dalle attuali. Sta prendendo piede la figura del parroco globe-trotter: alle 9 Messa nella parrocchia A, alle 10 in quella B e alle 11.30 in quella C…che la D e la E si arrangino. Ci sono molte parrocchie (non mi riferisco non tanto all’Italia) che il sacerdote lo vedono ormai con il cannocchiale. C’è il diacono Tizio e il diacono Caio che organizzano le cosiddette “paraliturgie”, che, con tutto il rispetto, stanno alla Messa nemmeno come le patate lesse ad un bel piatto di spaghetti alla carbonara. Paragone forse irriverente, ma è per rendere un’idea che in realtà non si può rendere, perchè solo la Messa ha un valore infinito, solo nella Messa è Dio che si offre in sacrificio. Se mettessimo su un piatto della bilancia tutte le preghiere di questo mondo e su un altro una sola Messa, la bilancia sicuramente penderebbe dalla parte della Messa.
